Whittier Parent Leadership & Advocacy Project |
Whittier Programs |
Through the Community School partnership, Whittier has created a space and an environment that is receptive to the school’s greater community area and a strong dual language curriculum that is built on social justice values. Both adults and children have access to innovative, culturally appropriate and sensitive programs such as art and painting, community gardening, theatre, violin, academic tutoring, Tai kwon do, Homework center, and Adult Education courses such as English as a Second Language, GED and Parent Leadership workshops. In addition, Whittier teachers, students, parents, and community members collectively own and care for three community gardens. Our partners include the Chicago Children’s choir, Alivio, The Merit school of music.
All programs at Whittier Community School are free and open to the community! For more information please call (773) 535-4093.
